SC on anti-CAA Shaheen Bagh Protest: Right to protest cannot lead to disruption of public life

  • The Supreme Court on Monday appointed Senior Advocate Sanjay Hegde and Sadhana Ramachandranas as interlocutors to talk to the protesters at Shaheen Bagh. The apex court was hearing the petitions seeking appropriate directions to the Centre and others for removal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protesters from Shaheen Bagh, near Kalindi Kunj in New Delhi. While saying that right to protest is a fundamental right, the court asked a Delhi government lawyer to identify another site for Shaheen Bagh protesters.
