Ugadi pachadi, Telugu festival special pachadi recipe

  • Ugadi pachadi is a special dish made on Telugu New Year day with six tastes in it, by tasting which on the new year day, we can face the six emotions in life equally. I have added honey and lemon juice in place of tamarind and jaggery. So it may not be the traditional way, still includes all the tastes.

    Mango, chopped – 1/2 cup
    Honey – 3 tbsp
    Salt – 1/4 tsp
    Neem flower – 1 tsp
    Black pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
    Lemon juice – 1/2 lemon
    Banana (optional) – 1/2, mashed
    *Roasted gram dal, cashews, chopped cucumber can be added to the pachadi.
    Method
    Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and the pachadi is ready to serve!
    Notes
    Black pepper powder is preferred to offer God than red chilli powder. Otherwise, you can add a green chilli chopped too.
    Jaggery if used in place of honey, dissolve in water, filter and use in the recipe.
    Instead of neem flower, neem leaves can also be used.
