    Spot idly is a street food recipe. You don’t need to steam idly in this recipe. So there is no need of cooker or steamer. It is very easy and simple recipe. It is a real quick recipe and tastes just awesome. If you are bored of having the same idly then this is the perfect option for you. You can try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me.     Ingredients:
    • 2 cups Rice
    • 1 cup Urad dal
    • 1 cup thick flattened Rice / Poha
    • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds
    • Salt to taste
    • 2 tbsp Chana dal
    • 1 tbsp Urad dal
    • 1 tbsp Coriander seeds
    • 1 tsp Curry leaves
    • 4~5 Garlic cloves
    • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
    • Tamarind
    • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds
    • 1 tsp Red chili powder
    • Salt to taste
    • 2~3 tsp Butter
    • Finely chopped Onion
    • Finely chopped Green chilies
    • Finely chopped Tomato

    Method:
    • Take rice in a bowl and add urad dal, poha.
    • Mix well and wash everything well together at least 3-4 times with water.
    • Add fenugreek seeds and soak everything together for at least 5 hours in enough water.
    • Transfer the mixture into a blender jar and blend into smooth paste.
    • Transfer the batter into a pot and mix well once.
    • Cover and let it ferment for overnight or at least 12-14 hours.
    • Add salt and mix well once.
    • Heat up a pan on medium heat.
    • Add chana dal, urad dal, coriander seeds, curry leaves, garlic, cumin seeds, tamarind and fry
    everything well together on medium heat for about 3-4 minutes.
    • You can increase the quantity of tamarind if you want.
    • When the masala begins to release nice aroma, dal change the color a little turn off the gas
    and add fenugreek seeds.
    • Mix well and add red chili powder, salt.
    • Mix well and let everything cool down.
    • Transfer the mixture into a blender jar and blend into coarse powder.
    • Podi masala for idly is ready.
    • Heat up a pan on medium heat and add butter.
    • When butter melts a little add onion, green chilies and fry until onion gets light golden color.
    • Add tomato and fry until it turns nice and soft.
    • Add 3 tsp fresh masala and mix well.
    • Divide the masala into 4 portions and add a ladleful batter on each portion.
    • Cover and cook low heat for at least 3-4 minutes.
    • Remove the lid and add a little butter and podi masala on each idly and flip it over carefully.
    • Sprinkle coriander leaves, cover and cook on low heat for another 2-3 minutes.
    • When idly is cooked well from both sides turn off the gas and transfer the idly into a dish.
    • Spot idly is all ready.
