  • Canelo Alvarez vs GGG Gennady Golvkin 2 Highlight recap. Canelo was able to score a majority decision win against GGG Gennady Golovkin at T-mobile arena in Las Vegas. A modern classic of a middleweight title bout revealed the same truism boxing fans knew all too well coming in: Death, taxes and Canelo Alvarez getting the benefit of the doubt. One year after a controversial split draw spoiled their first meeting in a fight most observers felt Gennady Golovkin had won, Alvarez claimed a majority decision in a thrilling fight at T-Mobile Arena to unify GGG's WBA and WBC titles with his own lineal championship.

Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs), who failed a pair of drug tests in February that forced the postponement of their originally scheduled May rematch, showed an incredible chin in pressing the action and trading with the bigger puncher Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) throughout.

The controversial scoring from the first bout ultimately repeated itself but not in such an egregious manner thanks to how close the rounds were contested in a rematch that was fought with tremendous skill at a hellacious pace. Judge Glenn Feldman scored it 114-114, while Steve Weisfeld and Dave Moretti had it 115-113 for Alvarez.

CBS Sports scored it 116-112 for Golovkin, who angrily left the ring after the decision and declined a post-fight interview.

The 36-year-old Golovkin outlanded Alvarez, eight years his junior, 234-202, according to CompuBox. Alvarez had the advantage in body shots landed by a 46-8 margin and in power punches, 143-116.

"If the people want a third fight, we will do it again. But for now, I want to enjoy the moment with my family and my people," Alvarez said. "But if they want us to do it again, no doubt."

+lasoogneypubes because fighting on the back foot for Ali was his style but ggg is a power punching aggressive fighter and he had that taken away from him so he did not choose to box and move he was forced to

+issa turtle It's not a direct comparison you mongoloid lol. Just making the point that Ali won fights on the backfoot and we all love Ali, so why is GGG not allowed to win that way? I can't believe you and 23 people actually need this explained to you.

This is why I low-key hate the boxing community people pick favorites and when their fighter loses they make up all the excuses and say the sport is corrupt idk why u guys can't handle a good close fight it was close but there was a obvious winner

Canelo made the adjustments he fought the fight everyone wanted him to?????? Even gave Abel what he wanted, golovkin only got 8 body shots in, 8!!!!!!!!! And was backed down all night by a SMALLER fighter, Canelo gave the people what they wanted he pushed the fight all night long, while ggg jabbed alllllll night until the end when they started exchanging power shots, I never seen ggg get treated like that and correct me if I’m wrong but he’s suppose to be a damn Monster, and btw canelos chin is made wi...

  • mjpena53 (Nov 4, 2018)

Then GGG won the first fight because he back down cantaloupe all throughout the fight...and it was called a draw? And cantaloupe failed the drug test? He should of been disqualified...and finally 110-118 card in favor of cantaloupe when did that happened. I must of fallen asleep.

  • The Future (Oct 22, 2018)

They should've made this fight 4 years ago they waited for ggg to get old if this fight happened 4 years ago canelo could've been easily knocked out
