    Raw banana fry/Aratikaya fry is a simple south Indian recipe which is best enjoyed with curd rice /rasam/ sambar. Green or raw bananas are full of nutrition. raw bananas have many good benefits for our health when taken in right amount. It is resistant to starch, so it helps with controlling blood sugar levels in diabetes patients. Potassium in green bananas controls blood pressure and keeps it in check. Its high fiber content is good for digestion and helps to relieve from constipation. Just like ripened bananas, green bananas are a great source of Vitamin - B6.

    Including this in our diet once a week will help to reap all the benefits it comes along.

    Raw banana fry is a popular South Indian recipe, it is mainly taken as a side dish for all rice varieties. Personally, I like to have it rasam and curd rice. Hope the video is easy enough to understand. If you have any doubts be free to comment it out.

    Ingredients

    2 medium sized Green/Raw Banana cut to 1/2 inch pieces
    1 small onion chopped
    1 tsp chilli powder
    1/2 tsp coriander powder powder
    1/4 tsp cumin powder
    Salt to taste
    Oil to cook

    How to Cook Raw Banana Fry/ Vazhaikai varuval/ Aratikaya Vepudu

    Step 1: Peel off the outer skin of green banana and cut into 1/2 inch pieces
    Step 2: Add the cut pieces to water to prevent them from changing color
    Step 3: Heat a wide pan and add oil to it. Drain the water and add the raw banana pieces to the pan.
    Step 4: Mix well so that all the pieces are coated with oil. By doing this, the pieces won't stick to the bottom of the pan
    Step 5: cover and cook for 5 minutes.This makes the pieces soft. Do not over cook, they may turn mushy
    Step 6: After 5 minutes, Saute for 10 to 15 minutes without covering till crispy. stir in between
    Step 7: When the raw banana pieces are almost done, add onion. Saute for 10 more minutes till onions are cooked.
    Step 8: when the onions are soft add the spices. Add red chili powder, salt, cumin powder and coriander powder. Mix well

    Tip : Onion cooks faster than raw banana. so, Add onion towards the end. This keeps the onions slightly crunchy. If they are added at the beginning, they get burnt.
