The true genius of this man is his ability to talk common sense. Yes, he has a string of highfalutin' letters after his name, but he can just TALK to anyone!!! AND EXPLAIN STUFF!!!! This is not a skill that most geniuses have.

+DoctorSax why cause the Earth's flat?

  • Nathan Johnson (3 days ago)

    That's cause he's not a genius

  • CNSZU (Sep 13, 2018)

"Just because it came out of Trump's mouth doesn't mean it's a bad idea". Finally someone with common sense.

  • gullintanni (6 hours ago)

I think you missed the point. It means that Trump usually says crazy things, except on this statement. Still Tyson can be wrong as Trump might be crazy on this point as well. He is after all the most ignorant US president of all time.

  • Geoffrey Garcia (6 days ago)

CNSZU the host really makes himself seem so stupid.

  • Kyotosomo (Sep 14, 2018)

oh look a talk show on trending never seen that before

  • Lawrence Smith (Oct 21, 2018)

The media and selected individuals have gotten so bad and so obvious in their attacks, i now question why they might strategically say anything good about Trump.

  • Jacob Williamson (Sep 13, 2018)

99% of colberts content is criticizing trump. if it wasn't for trump he wouldn't have a show.

  • gullintanni (6 hours ago)

It is a tradition in comedy to critizize presidents. Go back and see if Obama, Bush and Clinton got their fair share.

+sulfier bloodline there is no exactly, you must be autistic if you only know about the man as of recent

Props to Neil Degrasse Tyson for being a principled person in this divisive political culture. It’s rare in today’s world to chose principle over party or person. He didn’t go with ‘the crowd’ to bash Trump like Colbert wanted him to. Rather, he stuck to scientific fact and his principles. Allow this to be a lesson to both sides: you don’t always have to agree with your side if you’re a liberal or conservative. Be open minded and chose each issue and topic based off merit and truth. Tyson might be wrong. What the point of a Space Force? To fight aliens or the Chinese/Russians? As he said, it is a fine line before space is no longer available to us. We cannot blow things up near our planet without destroying Our hopes of conquering space. That's why we signed the UN agreement.

He is trying so hard to make it a bad thing and then Neil keeps shutting him down.

  • meh! (Feb 5, 2019)

+Sky Dawg Whatever his motivation might truly be, as an interviewer he has to try and ask the kind of questions that the audience is thinking. And when the audience is thinking of "militarizing space," they are thinking of what Colbert keeps saying. Colbert might understand from the get-go what Neil's message is, but if he just says "yeah that make sense" and doesn't voice those kinds of thoughts, the uneducated audience won't be convinced. I don't know if Colbert knows these thin...

+Cobi Lancaster I didn't mean to suggest that 200 billion was going solely to a "space force". You mistake intent.I was more lamenting NDGT's apparent cosiness with the military industrial complex. This was the kind of grotesque wasted expenditure Sagan always questioned - even in the height of the cold war when we DID have an (apparent) big and formidable enemy.

Republicans are actually the most liberal, since their love for laizzez- faire capitalism. Democrats slightly behind.

Smartest man in America says just because it comes out of Trump’s mouth doesn’t make it inherently insane.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔“Let’s ignore him, Trump bad lol.” Jokes aside this was cool.

  • gullintanni (6 hours ago)

First of all, Tyson is not the smartest man in America. Second, He can be wrong. Geniuses make mistakes every day like the rest of us because they deal with hard questions and problems.

So these sheep in the audience went from laughing at space force to applauding it in a matter of less than two minutes.

  • Nathan Johnson (3 days ago)

+bored_chimchar clearly Colbert didn't anticipate that Neil would defend Trump, and emediately attempted to pressure him to shit talk trump, it's pretty sheepish

  • Nathan Johnson (3 days ago)

+bored_chimchar changing there opinions based on whichever direction the sheep dog leads them, not based upon there personal understanding or knowledge, or any aquisition of new information. Dum dums Simply walking wereever the sheep dog leads them is obviously what the poster meant
