  • South Indian meal - Drumstick sambar/ Mirumgakai sambar, cabbage kootu, beans poriyal/ beans fry, potato Podimas/potato fry, paruppu rasam/ Dal Rasam, homemade yogurt, Dal with roasted Cumin with ghee, Vadai, appalam, white rice, semiya payasam.

    INGREDIENTS:
    To make sambar
    1 cup Thor Dal - pressure cook by adding 2 cups of water
    1 cup of drumsticks
    2 chopped tomatoes
    1/2 cup tamarind water
    1 tsp mustard seeds
    1 tsp urad dal
    1 tsp cumin seeds
    1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
    1/2 tsp Asafatida
    2 Dry chillies
    2 tbs grated coconut
    1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    2 tsp sambar powder
    Chopping coriander leaves
    Curry leaves
    Salt
    Oil

    To make dal Rasam :
    1/2 cup cooked thoor dal
    1/2 cup tamarind water
    1 chopped tomato
    1tsp mustard seeds
    1 tsp cumin seeds
    1 tsp black pepper
    Pinch fenugreek seeds
    2 dry chillies
    1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    1/2 tsp Asafatida
    Curry leaves
    Chopped coriander leaves
    Salt
    Oil

    To make Potato Podimas:
    250 grms cooked potatoes
    1 tsp mustard seeds
    1 tsp Urad dal
    1 tsp channa dal
    1 tsp cumin seeds
    1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    1/2 tsp Asafatida
    2 green chilli
    Curry leaves
    Salt
    Oil

    To make cabbage kootu:
    250 grms chopped/ Grated cabbage
    1 tbd grated coconut, 2 green chillies and 1 tsp cumin seeds. ( grind all 3 ingredients)
    1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    1 tsp mustard seeds
    1/2 tsp Asafatida
    Curry leaves
    Salt and oil

    To make beans poriyal:
    250 grms long beans
    1 tsp mustard seeds
    1 tsp cumin seeds
    1 tsp urad dal
    2 Dry chillies
    1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    1/2 tsp Asafatida
    Curry leaves
    Salt and oil

    Semiya payasam:
    1 cup roasted semiya
    1/2 cup condensed milk
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 cup milk
    Pinch of saffron
    3 tbs cashew nuts and raisins
    1/2 tsp cardamon powder
