The HoMedics SoundSpa sound machine is small and compact at 6.5” x 6” x 2” and weighs only 8 oz. It comes with 6 distinct sound options: White Noise, Thunder, Ocean, Rain, Summer Night, and Brook. You can choose which sound option you want by clicking the button next to the name of the sound.

There is a small knob that allows you to change the volume. We tested it at about 85 dB max. There is also an auto-timer that lets you choose how long you listen – 15, 30, or 60 minutes. You can also let it play overnight by not clicking on the auto-timer.

You can power the SoundSpa with either an AC adapter and a wall outlet or you can put batteries in it to make it more portable. Just know that batteries are not included!

The SoundSpa is a simple and easy sound machine that will give you a variety of sound options and good volume levels. The sounds themselves may not be of the highest quality, and you may notice some looping if you listen closely. Some feedback suggests the quality can be hit or miss, but it’s a very affordable sound machine (around $20) and easy to grab at most big-name stores that carry home goods.

If you need something for a quick trip this will certainly get the job done. But, if you’re hoping to find something that will live on your nightstand to help you sleep for years to come, you may want to consider another machine that offers higher quality construction and non-looping sound.

If you're thinking about placing this in a baby's/child's nursery you should consult with a pediatrician about the appropriate volume, especially if you're going to use it to play overnight.
