  • Super Mario Galaxy was a game that took a lot of risks, as it sought to expand upon what Mario could be with its atmosphere and story as well as its gameplay. The end result is a game that maintains the iconic Mario game mechanics but also mixes in an overarching melancholy throughout. Using some of the ideas established in Jacob Geller's essay "The Quiet Sadness of Mario Galaxy," I delve into some new aspects of the game's characters and story that people may not have considered before.
