Wow totally did not know that she is the late Minnie Riperton's daughter! Love that she made a name for herself by her own talent and how down to earth she is. Love both her and her mother!

I love the idea of Maya pushing TV at her kids; so unlike most parents.

+David Maxfield haha, Turner Classic Movies is like the shining light in the modern era of crappy TV programming that does nothing but distract and numb the senses. Older film reminds us of where we come from, the values of past and present, film as art, cultural representation, acts as a socio-political timeframe. It's a very good and loving act she is gifting to her children.

Well first it was books to get their minds off TV, now it's TV to get their minds off the internet, and later it'll be the Internet to keep their minds off of alternate reality or something.

Man, I wish I was married to PTA and have our children surrounded by Turner Classic movies in our household! Also, from Conan's classic line story, I now realise where those Breaking Bad episode titles came from!

My favorite line from an old Cagney movie: "What are you gonna do? Turn yellow and squeal?"

  • ahepperl 3 years ago

My favorite classic old timey line is " aint got a leg to stand on" Because anyone can say "OH THAT IS BULLSHIT" but that line is not only classy, it is literally saying, you are so full of it, that you can't even support YOURSELF let alone your "argument". Bring back the old slang! It'd be the bees knees daddyo.

Well can you tell me what movie this line is from?It would be a great help

  • Manly Stump 3 years ago

@ahepperl How is that even old lingo? Not having a leg to stand on is still in common use today!
