Battlefront II: The Bed Time Story

  • Well, this is certainly going to be our most controversial video to date.

About a week ago, Kotor was pondering the ongoing Battlefront II debacle, and was thinking about how perfectly the story fits with the Star Wars central theme itself, of plucky grassroots rebellions pushing back against a controlling evil empire.

Wouldn't it be fun, he thought, if someone made a video framing gamers as the Rebel Alliance, and EA as the evil Empire.

Then he remembered that we have a game channel, and spent some time trying to convince BretonStripes to let him do this slightly silly video.

In all fairness, this is probably not our best work. We're not being particularly fair and impartial with the subject matter, and it's simplistic to turn this whole thing into a battle of good versus evil.

That said, this was a lot of fun to make, from getting to quote Star Wars dialogue (including the trailer for The Last Jedi), through to drawing fun pictures that cast our top Patreon backers as the heroes of the story.

We know that a lot of you like seeing Chiaki from Danganronpa show up in these videos - she's included thanks to a top level Patreon supporter who wanted her in the occasional video. Now she, along with another of our backers, takes center stage as the face of the gamer Rebellion.

Here's hoping that you like this video, even though it's about a game doing poorly instead of a success story. The success is ours, as gamers, for fighting back against loot boxes.

In the meantime, here's the research for this video (it's a shorter list than normal because not a lot of this is concrete):

Hope you have a great week, we'll see you soon! May the Force be with you!
